
Helen A. Stolinas, Esquire, has worked in the Bradford County Office of the Public Defender since 1993, when she joined the staff as Assistant Public Defender. She became Chief Public Defender in December, 2001. Her education includes a Juris Doctor degree from the Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and a Bachelor's degree in English from Lock Haven University in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania.
In 1992, she was admitted to the bar to practice law in Pennsylvania. Currently, Helen serves on the Bradford/Sullivan Drug and Alcohol Planning Commission, is a member of the Treatment Court Committee, and is an officer on the board of directors of the Pennsylvania Public Defender's Association. During her tenure as a public defender, she has obtained the trial experience and continuing legal education to serve as counsel in capital cases. She has recently served as counsel in a capital case and has also appeared before the Pennsylvania Superior and Supreme Courts.
Helen and her husband of thirteen years, Raymond J. Stolinas Jr., live in Monroeton, Bradford County. In addition to her professional activities, her interests include travel, cooking, and Pilates.
