Biography:Professor Crowl graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Sociology (Criminal Justice concentration) from Walsh University in 2005. He continued his studies at Youngstown State University, where he earned a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice. He obtained his Ph.D. in Criminology from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Professor Crowl joined Mansfield University in the fall of 2013 as an Assistant Professor in the Criminal Justice Administration Department. His research and teaching interests include police legitimacy and procedural justice, evidence-based crime and delinquency prevention, criminological theory and organized crime.
Professor Crowl is currently involved in a number of professional development and service activities. For instance, he is in the process of conducting multiple lines of research specific to police legitimacy, procedural justice, and perceptions of the police. He is also the current Associate Managing Editor for Police Practice and Research. In addition, he serves as the adviser to Lambda Alpha Epsilon as well as the CJA representative to the Faculty Senate. In addition, he maintains membership in Alpha Phi Sigma (national Criminal Justice honor society), Phi Kappa Phi (the nation's most selective all-discipline honor society), the American Society of Criminology, and the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences. He is also a manuscript reviewer for Criminal Justice Policy Review.
In addition to his teaching and professional activities, Professor Crowl enjoys learning, networking with students, sports, and spending time with his wife Crystal and son Cameron.
